We are more than ready to return to the darkness…
The 2002 GameCube horror game Eternal Darkness could be making it’s way to Nintendo’s new home console the Switch, if new reports are to be believed.
Trademark extensions filled on December 20th with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, unearthed by NicheGamer mention “downloadable electronic game programs” and “downloadable electronic game software”. This is far from a confirmation of the game’s release but it does point to a possible release on Nintendo virtual console program which will be re-imagined for the switch.
Previous leaks that pointed to GameCube games being available on the Switch virtual console also add some credence to the rumours, as the technology is seemingly there for Eternal Darkness to make the switch (sorry – Ed).
However this is still very much unconfirmed by Nintendo, fingers crossed we’ll find out more on January 13th, when the second of the Nintendo’s Switch presentations takes place.
Until then you’ll just have to dust off that old purple cube if you want a piece of this classic horror adventure.
